  3. I love this. It’s applicable when you’re at your early stages of business too. I’ve had so many people tell me that I’m good at this or that so I should be selling it/working in it. Only it’s things that, for me, are a private creative practice. I don’t want to make money doing that. And if I don’t want to, I don’t have to.

  5. Such a timely video, I just started weeding my business garden this year. I’ve been stuck in the ‘tech zone’ helping people build their websites, their mailing list, their Facebook page graphics and all that jazz.

    NOT my zone of genius. (I’m good at it but I don’t love it) My real genius is grabbing women by the hand and monetising the f*ck out of their brand. As someone who DIY’d herself into fame and fortune in the skincare industry, I LOVE to help other entrepreneurs achieve that too.

    I also realised that although it’s nice earning 6-figures and beyond from passive income, I really miss being on stage – I am a natural performer and love to speak and teach live.

    So I’m phasing out a lot of my passive income work to start working again one to one with clients during VIP days, group events and the like.

    I’m so freakin’ excited!

  6. I’ve always thought that “charge what you’re worth” was weird advice because you are a human being and you are not your business. What you are selling is not the same as you as a human and you can’t put a price on it. You can put a price on the value you deliver though.

  8. Thanks for this, Denise! Made me realize that someone I think of as a “nightmare client” is actually worth it to me… she’s not as big a nightmare as I make her out in my head because I come away from our calls with lots of energy – frustrated a bit, but definitely not angry. I was thinking it was one of those “I’m worth more than money” situations, but it’s actually more of a “I can’t control whether or not my clients do what I say”. If I can let that settle in, she won’t feel at all nightmare. So I think I just need to learn the difference between the feeling that I need to put the brakes on and draw a line in the sand because my boundaries are worth more than money, and when I just need to reframe my mindset so something doesn’t upset me as much.
