Lucky Bitch Video Transcript – How I Organise My Day
Hey peeps, it’s Denise here from LuckyBitch.com, and I have had a few people ask me how I organise my day, and how I organise my workload.
Now you might be a bit disappointed with my answer, because the truth is, I’m not that much of a freaky, anal, organised person. I think sometimes the question, it comes from a place of like, I must be doing something wrong. Somebody else has got the secret, somebody else has got the perfect formula, and I just want to find out what that is. The truth is, I’m a really super lazy person. I’m really, really lazy.
I always try and find the shortcuts for things, the quickest, easiest, no messing around.
That means that I’m also not that anal about being super organised. That said, I do have a couple of things that really make a difference.
What I noticed, was when I used to sit down at my desk, sometimes I would spend the whole day procrastinating, watching YouTube videos, and screwing around on Facebook. Just that busy, busy work that’s not really doing anything, but it makes you feel like you are. So if I sit down without goals, that’s what I’ll do. I’ll just have literally no purpose.
Use A Simple Planner Tool
So instead, I just use a very, very simple tool. I use mine from kikki.K, it’s a monthly planner or this one is a weekly chore list. You can get them from most stationery stores. I really like the monthly planner, because I like the grid and sometimes what I do is I create different categories. So I might have marketing, admin, personal stuff, social media, and I’ll just make those kind of categories and then each square is a different action point. And then when I’ve done it, I just cross it off.
Literally, that is my entire kind of to-do list organisational thing.
I also use them for different things as well. So I use them for planning, and if I am creating a new course for example, I’ll use them this way. I know what my five steps are that I always teach, my five steps to manifesting. I write step one, two, three, four, five and then I’ll come up with different exercises. Then I might go step one is forgiveness. What’s my topic? Money, okay? You do money, forgiveness or do this, or do this, or do this, or do this and I’ll just create it like that.
I can very quickly create a new course, a new program, a new talk, anything using kind of that grid system.
I also use it for making notes during calls. You can see this one is when I was interviewing recently for my content manager. I had certain questions that I asked every single person, and then each person got a column. So it just meant I can only write for each question, I can only write the answer in a very little square. That means that I have to be quite succinct and to the point.
I use it for that too, and then sometimes, if I’m talking with my coach, I’m listening to an interview or something like that, I’ll do the same thing or I’ve got a giant one, let me just grab the giant one as well that I use, if it’s something that’s really big. And again, I’ll just write a topic in each square and I’ll have that information there forever. Some of them I keep usually with my to-do ones after a day or two, and I’ll start a new one, even write down the things in the grid that I haven’t yet ticked off, and I start a new fresh one.
Using that method is really the best way I found to be organised on a day to day basis, and it’s just really easy.
Don’t try to fill your whole grid and do 30 things in one day. Even if you just do five or six a day, you’re going to be super, super organised, and what I usually try to do, is to make sure there’s a few things on there that will really drive me forward. So I don’t write crappy things that I know I’m going to do anyway, like check Facebook or whatever. It’s like get back to that client, send out that newsletter, things that I know will bring in the money.
So that’s how I stay organised, and remember there is no secret formula. I’m not more organised than you. I’m sure everything you’re doing is fabulous and keep on doing it.
