Do you want to write a book?
It’s a great way to gain credibility for your business but also to spread your message to many people around the world.
I’ve written two books, both in very different ways. It’s completely changed my business and although it can feel daunting, I’ve got lots of tips for you on how to get it DONE!

Both of my books are completely self-published. I think that self-publishing is an amazing opportunity for female entrepreneurs because we can completely control exactly how the book looks and you can get it done very, very quickly.
For example, I’ve had several covers for my books – and I’ve updated them every year. You can have FULL control over everything.
Many of my published friends have been extremely unhappy with their covers or how long it takes – so I highly recommend to do your first book yourself and get it self-published. You can always go down the publishing route later.
The downside is though that you have to do everything but that’s no big deal, I promise!
How I wrote my books
Lucky Bitch is about how I won the ultimate job competition which was six months all expenses paid travel around the world. It was a really cool story and that brings me to my first point.
What do you write about?
Start with what you know.
What has happened in your life, do you have a story that has valuable lessons for other people?
With my first book, I wrote it in the traditional way.
I sat down and I wrote a whole bunch of chapters. Basically I just wrote it one word at a time. It was kind of painful. For me. You might LOVE writing but for me, it felt like a school assignment. I had SO MUCH RESISTANCE.
Want the full scoop on my first book? I share all of the details right here: How Writing My Book (Lucky Bitch) Has Changed My Life
My second book Get Rich, Lucky Bitch!, was written in a completely different way, which was much easier but it cost a lot more money to do.
Get Rich, Lucky Bitch! is about how to release your money blocks and live a first class life. I also have a money course called the Lucky Bitch Money Bootcamp. This is a six-week money course and the book is a perfect introduction to the course. (that’s a huge tip by the way, write a book that leads onto to a course)
Writing this book was a much easier process.
I got transcripts of everything, every assignment, every Q&A, etc and I sent it to an editor to clean up. They took out the conversational language, they put some bridging sentences and they made it read much more like a book.
Then they sent it back to me, I added some extra stories, client stories and really padded it out with questions and exercises to make it more of an interactive, interesting book.
Now, as I said, that cost me money to do but it also meant that I didn’t have to start from scratch.
You can write about your personal experiences, or you can use what you already have to compile into a book.
For example, you might have already created a course, you have webinar transcripts, or you have a popular blog that can become the basis for your book (by the way, lots of famous authors have created books out of their blogs – and just added a few bits of new material).
Writing a book does not have to be a painful project but you really have to get it DONE. This year. No excuses.
Why? Having a book (even a self-published one) gives you great credibility. For some reason, people still think it’s amazing writing a book, even though really, all you’ve done is just to sit and write a whole bunch of stuff.
If you can blog, you can write a book.
It’s really not that big a deal but people THINK it is.
Best marketing tool ever
Your books are a business card for the rest of your business. Yes, you can make money from books (I make about $25k a year), but it’s a small part of my overall business.
For example, people might read my book and then decide they want to take things further by joining my course. So my book is a hard-working marketing tool for everything else in my business.
Don’t worry about giving too much away. They’re still not going to get the same experience of doing your more higher priced offerings.
You can’t replicate YOU or your community in a book but you can give someone a taste of it and get them excited about working with you further.
