Hi, Lucky Bee!
If you’re being a bit of a Debbie Downer at the moment – and you really want to get out of it so you can continue creating the life of your dreams, listen up so you can get back on track.

If you follow me on social media or if you’re a regular on the blog, you might have the very mistaken impression that I’m “up” and positive 100% of the time.
But it’s actually impossible to be up and positive all the time and I don’t think you need to be either.
My philosophy on manifesting is that you just have to be positive a little more than you’re negative.
You’ll go through different plateaus as well, for example, when you don’t have a massive goal that you want to achieve, then it’s okay to coast a little bit.
But if you’re looking to do something BIG this year, or you’ve got a massive goal to achieve this month then yes, your mindset and motivation might need a massive kick up the butt.
It’s okay to be human
It’s okay to feel down sometimes. You don’t have to be perfect all the time.
That’s a message for the perfectionists out there, and also for anyone who has the mistaken belief that I’m 100% positive all the time. I’m really not. I have my down times like anyone else.
That’s always my disclaimer: whatever you’re experiencing is completely normal. Don’t worry about it, or think that just because you’re having a bad day (or year) then you’re not going to be successful.
Let’s talk about what to do if you are experiencing a bit of a dip and you know you need a kick up the pants.
Cultivate a Positive Mindset
My philosophy is to throw everything at it.
Having a great mindset leads to taking action, and taking action leads to achieving great results.
Mindset > Action > Results
When you have a negative mindset you don’t take any action, (or worse you might sabotage yourself and it leads to this compounding, downward-spiral effect.
Negative mindset > Sabotage > Negative results
Obviously, mindset is hugely important, and I like to look at it from all angles.
You won’t find one cure-all to achieve an amazing mindset
What does work is having the philosophy that you want to surround yourself with as many positive things as possible – things you don’t have to think about too much, things that become second nature for you.
This creates a nice base level of motivation, and each one of these positive things layer on top of one another.
If I have a bad day, I’ve got so many positive things layered into my day that it’s okay. I know those dips are only going to be little ones. They’re not going to last weeks, days, or months like they used to.
Let’s talk about some of the positive things you can layer in. They’re going to be in two different categories: everything that goes in, and everything that comes out.
What are you allowing in?
I want you to take an honest inventory of everything that’s going into your brain right now.
Sometimes you need to be extremely vigilant and declutter some of this stuff as well. These can be any messages or things that are external to you – including friends, for example.
If you’ve got someone in your life who’s really negative, who likes to bitch or unload their problems on you, or someone who is who is an energy vampire, that is a negative layer that’s going to contribute to one of those downward spirals.
If you’re constantly surrounding yourself with people who bring you down, that’s stripping away your natural armor against the world.
I’m not saying you have to de-friend these people completely – although you can and it feels amazing – but I am saying that in times like this you might need to limit your interaction with them.
This means you change the subject if they start talking about something that’s a trigger for you. It means you don’t sit around and bitch about your lives; you go to the movies instead. Maybe you choose not to see them for a couple of weeks so you can replenish some of your armor and build up your protection.
It’s not only friends. It could be any message that comes into your life. Maybe you could stop watching the news for a little bit. If you’re getting into that downward spiral of “the world is terrible and everything is going to shit, why bother? The economy is tanking and I’m not going to make any money. Why bother?”
You need to cut that stuff out. You need to cut yourself off from that temporarily while you regroup and get your mojo back.
Don’t feed negativity and drama
Again, you can strip away that layer, or you can replace it with something else…
Positive news
You can de-clutter your Facebook group so you only see messages that light you up. You can stop reading the newspaper if it stresses you out, or only read positive news about people changing the world.
Maybe when you get in your car, instead of listening to negative news when you’re driving around, you can listen to a positive podcast.
You choose the message
Maybe you need a bit of motivation in a practical business sense, like marketing motivation – so you saturate your awareness with inspiring business advice.
Sometimes you might need a bit more spiritual enrichment. You can choose the message that comes into your life, and choose it very consciously because each one of those is going to add onto your motivational layers and create a strong foundation for you.
What are you learning and studying right now? Sometimes, again, you have to be judicious in what you’re bringing in. Sometimes you might be into reading technical books, or books that are really gung-ho about money.
Other times, those kinds of books might make you feel a bit crap and you just need some gentle reassurance. A great book that I love for this is Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic. I find that book so reassuring and lovely, like a nice hug. I read it when I need a little boost of, “You know what? You’re good. You can do it. Let’s get creative.” Instead of the more hard core, “Come on! Smash the competition,” business stuff.
Remember, you’re responsible for everything that comes into your life and the things you choose will help you get out of that motivation rut or that low place.
What are you saying to yourself about this low time?
Self talk is so crucial.
Often, women think they have to be perfect to be allowed to be successful. That’s probably one of the most damaging things you can say to yourself, because we’re all having a human experience on this planet.
What are you saying to yourself about this motivation rut?
Are you making this mean that you’re not meant to be successful in business? That you’re not a good person? That you’re not good enough? That people don’t like you or want you?
That’s such an important thing to release and work on.
Sometimes I wear a little elastic band that reminds me to say, “Nope. Shut that shit down, girlfriend.” In a really loving way, but I think, “Nope. Not going there.”
It’s a mental reminder to stop and be mindful of what I’m allowing into my space.
What are you putting out there?
When you’re in a motivation rut, again, sometimes your language can spiral and create even more negative situations for you.
Be very careful about what you’re saying out loud at the moment. Are you complaining to people about how terrible everything is? Are you being one of those draining friends to other people in your life?
Are you talking about your goals or are you speaking out loud about what you don’t want to attract?
You have to take a brutal look at what you’re saying and snap yourself out of it in the moment.
Instead of saying, “Oh, I wish I could win the lottery,” say, “I’m going to keep working on my business no matter what. I’m going to be successful no matter what.”
Instead of saying, “If we can do this,” say, “When this happens. When I have a successful business. When I hit my financial goals, we’re going to do X, Y, Z.”
Speak what you want into existence
It’s incredibly powerful.
That goes for what you say to your friends, your partner, your parents, your mastermind buddies…
Here are a couple of things to watch out for:
Disclaimers
“Oh, I know it’s not as good as what everyone else has achieved this month, but I still did this.”
No, shut that shit down.
Don’t put disclaimers all over your success.
Own it proudly
Don’t discount what you’ve done.
Social Media Posts
Watch what you’re posting on social media when you’re at a low point.
Maybe it’s time to take a little step back. Or post a positive message that you wish someone would say to you, like, “Hey, you can do it,” rather than airing your dirty laundry like, “Oh, I’m such a so-and-so… everything’s so crap.”
You might be surprised and think, “Who does that?” I see people do it all the time. They infect everyone else with their negativity, then it comes back around to them and perpetuates the whole Debbie-Downer cycle.
Watch what you’re saying out loud, on social media, what you’re writing about everything you’re dealing with right now.
That’s what you’re putting out into the world, and the Universe is always listening to what you’re saying out loud.
This is actually Step Three of my Five Step Manifesting Formula. I call it Surrounding Yourself with Positivity. It’s all part of a free course I have for you at www.LuckyBitch.com/Formula.
In the course, I give you a free cheat sheet so you can go through the Five Steps and make sure you’re doing everything you can do to manifest the next step.
I’ve been there before when I’ve been stuck in a motivational rut. It’s easy to forget there are practical things you can do to overcome these low periods.
Quite often, we take one or two steps, but we forget there are a few more steps we need to take.
Often, I find when women are manifesting, they might do one (maybe Step Five), but they’ve missed out on a whole spectrum of things they should do. Again, you can download that at www.LuckyBitch.com/Formula.
My last words are to say, you can totally get out of this rut.
It’s only temporary.
This too shall pass
I know all this because I’ve been there as well.
It’s your time, and you’re totally ready for the next step.
